Our story, since 1992

Dr. Slaman grew up in Albuquerque, earned his doctorate at the University of Missouri and came home to open his own practice in 1992. He calls himself your dental coach: find out what you want, explain what he sees, and let you decide.

Common questions

What people ask before they book.

Do you take my insurance?

The practice accepts most insurance providers, which typically contribute to medically necessary care such as gum disease treatment and dentures. Cosmetic treatment and the implants themselves are not covered by basic dental plans. For anything left over there is CareCredit financing and an in-office payment plan, and the front desk will go through your costs before you start.

I am nervous about the dentist. What helps?

Tell the team when you book. Warm blankets, noise-cancelling headphones and hot coffee are part of every visit, The Wand delivers anaesthetic by computer instead of a conventional syringe, and Dr. Slaman offers oral conscious sedation for surgical procedures.

Can I really get a crown in one visit?

Often, yes. The tooth is scanned with Primescan rather than a tray of impression putty, and the CEREC Primemill makes a tooth-coloured ceramic crown in an hour or less while you wait. No temporary crown and no second visit.

Do I need an overnight sleep study for sleep apnea?

Not usually. You fill in a sleep survey, then a pharyngometer, a harmless ultrasound test that takes about five minutes, measures your airway in the office. If an oral appliance is right for you it is custom made, then adjusted at follow-up visits. The first consultation is free.

What are dental implants going to cost me?

It depends on how many teeth are being replaced, whether you need a bone graft or other preparation first, and the restoration on top. Insurance usually helps with the crown, bridge or denture but not with the implant and abutment. CareCredit financing and in-house payment plans can spread the rest.
